Interstate engineering certificates: what carries over, what doesn't
Recognition of engineering certification varies by jurisdiction. Victorian VASS certificates are generally accepted in SA, TAS, NT and the ACT, but not automatically in NSW or Queensland. The pattern
The two largest markets, NSW and Queensland, are the least portable — both generally want certification under their own scheme. Western Australia runs its own approval process regardless of what you arrive with. SA, TAS, NT and the ACT are comparatively accommodating.
None of this is a guarantee. Recognition is applied at the discretion of the destination authority and depends on the specific modification.
